Great
software resource for nonprofits:
One of our clients turned us on to this. www.techsoup.org.
If you’re involved in a nonprofit and your organization needs
software, check here first. Major technology corporations sponsor this
site and provide nearly free copies of very expensive software. It’s
a huge help for those organizations who help others.
How cheap?
Macromedia Dreamweaver web authoring software was selling for $35 instead
of $999! We use Dreamweaver in conjunction with clients, providing them
design templates customized for their organization. They maintain their
own content using our easy-to-use templates.
Making Friday Afternoons Productive -- Marketing
Tip:
Friday afternoons everyone disappears. E-mail is quiet. You don't dare
call a prospect after 4pm. So use the time to write a few thank-you
business notes to clients.
If you don't have note cards, just ask us to quote them on your next
stationary print run. Its quite economical to order notepads and note
cards to match.
As e-mail
communication gets more cluttered, a hand-written note will speak volumes
about the level of customer-care that your company delivers.
Tria wins a Silver Addy at the Lansing Ad Club Addy Awards:
We took home more wood for our wall (and put some on our client’s
wall too). Tria won a Silver Addy Award for the sales promotion kit
for The Production Department. The Production Department does message-on-hold
and web audio for firms here in Lansing and around the country. You
can learn more at www.pdept.com and
see a snapshot of the winning brochure at www.triadesignfirm.com/portfolio.html
Grammar
Corner
Since Linda is on vacation for two weeks we thought we'd share some
of our famous bloopers. Linda used to be the Creative Director at the
Michigan Education Association. They dubbed an annual conference "Excellence
in Action" and created a large number of marketing materials around
this campaign.
Linda had
a five-part proofing system internally, going through their department,
and several others. She had long argued for a proofreader as one last
"check," but one had not been hired. Until this event...
On the
day before the 'big event', one of their staffers noticed that, on the
cover of their brochure, the word "Excellence" was spelled
wrong. A proofreader was hired the very next week.
